About Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Alliance

The Mid Atlantic Wrestling Alliance had its humble beginnings in October of 2010, operating out of the Sports N’ More Complex in Sewell, NJ.  With Shaka, Lt. Warhead,  the Cremator, Joe Rules, John Cannon, Twiggy Ramirez, Ed House and “The Olympian” Dave Patera being the only eight wrestlers on its active roster, the M.A.W.A.’s inaugural show, Inception to Insanity, featured these men in a tournament to become the first ever M.A.W.A. Heavyweight Champion.  That night, the modest crowd in attendance witnessed history as the Tortured Soul of Centralia, the Cremator, went on to defeat Ed House in the finals for the M.A.W.A.’s most coveted prize.

Since Inception to Insanity, the M.A.W.A. has seen both its fan base and roster swell, now boasting near sell-out crowds at every show and over 30 amazing athletes populating the locker room. The promotion history is marked with many memorable moments like when the Incendiary Irishman, Pat Shamrock, hung up his referee stripes and came out of retirement to go undefeated as he marched towards an inevitable M.A.W.A. Heavyweight title shot.   No one could forget when independent superstar, Sara Del Ray, arrived to embarrass “Risky Business” Ronnie Raines when she defeated Risky Business Inc. stablemate, Jasin Karloff.  Dave Patera would be ousted from the promotion when he lost a “Loser-Leaves-MAWA” match.    Of course, there was the surprise return of “the Chicago Hot Shot” Joey Greco who immediately rekindled his legendary decade-long feud with the Cremator.  Perhaps there was no greater shock than when Ronnie Raines ultimately disbanded Risky Business Inc.  It’s remarkable just how many highlights have occurred within the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Alliance in such a short time.  And, yet, there’s so much more yet to come.

For instance, the M.A.W.A.'s first ever tag team champions were crowned at MAWApalooza IV with "Vicious" Ryan Vox and Vinny the Fixxer, collectively known as the X Crew laying claim to the titles.  With a booming tag team division featuring the likes of Mean Streak (Evil Eddie Hawkins & Justin Pusser), Burning Rage (Andy Header & Cremator), the Party Rockers (And-D Bivians & Adam Chandler), Flannel & Fatigues (Jimmy Lyon & Warhead) and the I.I.A. (Joey Greco & Pat Shamrock), the competition for the tag straps will be unbelievably fierce.

Over the years the M.A.W.A. Heavyweight Title has seen only a handful of men who would come to call

themselves champion.   Through the underhanded machinations of “Risky Business” Ronnie Raines, the

Cremator vanished from the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Alliance and the Heavyweight title found itself on the waist of Mr. Raines’ client, John Cannon.  In a strange coincidence, Cannon, still champion, abruptly left the company when the Cremator made a dramatic return to the M.A.W.A.  Although the Cremator returned to reclaim the title he never lost, it would be Ed House who would, after a yearlong quest, become the next champion.  House would retain the championship for over a year, from February 2012 until April 2013, finally succumbing to the unorthodox Agent of Chaos, Jason Havok, in a no-disqualification, falls-count-anyway brouhaha of a main event at Mawapalooza II.  Later that year, Pat Shamrock would return to R.W. Kershaw Shcool, his childhood stomping ground, and upend Havcok at Stepping Stone to become only the fourth man in M.A.W.A. history to call himself heavyweight champion.
Shamrock would go on to hold the title a staggering 505 days before finally being defeated by "The Architect" Dave Dumaer's malevolent mammoth, "Mean" Mark Mest in a grueling 2 out 3 falls match at the main event of Winter Warfare.

Typically, the M.A.W.A. holds three shows a year in late January/early February, late April/early May and October, all based out of their new home at the Berlin Community Center in Berlin, NJ.  However, as the promotion’s popularity has grown, so has its number of events and locations.  M.A.W.A. has branched out to Mt. Ephraim, Stratford and Somerdale, NJ with the action of each show outpacing the last.

If you’re new to the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Alliance, you’re in for a treat.  If you’re a longtime fan, you know what kind of extravaganza to expect.  Either way, we thank you for your patronage and hope you stick with us on our meteoric rise as we continue to bring you outstanding, family friendly, independent professional wrestling.  It’s gonna be one heckuva ride!
